Manhood: What ‘’Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid’’ Can Teach Us As Men

Contents:

1. So what can we as men, learn about manhood from a 1969 film about two-train robbing

outlaws?

2. All men have flaws, no one man is perfect.

3. Your enemies are always at the gates, threatening to take even more from you than they

already have.

Hollywood has abandoned manhood in modern movies. This wasn’t always the case. Your father grew up with great examples of manliness in the movies they watched. Manhood is the central subject of this article. Manhood is also in large part the foundation of PathToManliness.com

Men who read my blog and follow me on Twitter, Telegram, and Instagram, always are looking for ways to become better men.

Whether that means finding their mission in life, Breaking Out Of The Matrix, or just leveling up and being a better version of themselves.

''Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid'' is a classic film from 1969 that we men today can all learn from. Just like we can learn lessons from The Big Lebowski, so too can we learn from cinema classics of days past.

Unfortunately, the golden days of cinema are behind us. You probably don't need me to tell you that.

Today men are met with a barrage of constant propaganda from Hollywood and the media alike. Propaganda that claims our inherent nature is ''toxic''. Men have far fewer places we can turn to for guidance anymore. Nowadays, we have to know where to look.

This was the whole reason I started PathToManliness.com

If we want to be better men, then we have to spend time in the right circles, surrounded by the right influences. Once upon a time, we didn't have to search so hard.

We could watch films like this and gain tremendous insight.

''Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid'' features two A-list actors who've stood the test of time: Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

Years later they would win Academy Awards for their starring roles in the 1973 best film of the year ''The Sting''. Which is also a recommended classic.

Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid however, was where they got their start. It’s what put them on the map.

So what can we as men, learn about manhood from a 1969 film about two-train robbing outlaws

So much success as men, comes down to knowing which aspects of other men to aspire towards, and which flaws to disregard

Recognizing other men for their strengths, but also their flaws.

Differentiating a strength from a flaw, helps us give perspective.

We take good qualities and aim to incorporate them inwardly.

This makes us more interesting, well-rounded men.

Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman) and The Sundance Kid (Robert Redford), each embody important characteristics of manhood and manliness.

Characteristics us men can aspire to.

I'm not saying all their qualities are good (don't go robbing trains or anything), but they each stand out in their own ways, for their own reasons.

All men have flaws, no one man is perfect.

However as men, we should always do the best we can

The reason Butch and Sundance work so well together in the film, is because they complement each other. One has strengths the other doesn't, and vice-versa.

Butch is the street-smart hustler. He's always thinking like a chess player in the game of life (6-8 steps ahead). He sees and anticipates what Sundance can't.

He sees what others can't either.

Sundance on the other hand, is the brave lionheart. He can shoot something dead in the blink of an eye, before anyone has time to even blink. He possesses courage, bravado, and masculinity. Most importantly: he doesn't take shit off anybody.

He's not only unafraid of confrontation, he welcomes it.

Instigates it even.

Butch by contrast, is different. He's ''never shot anyone before'', and is the affable fun-loving guy at the bar that everyone loves (including the women).

The women love both of these guys by the way.

Butch because he's a charmer, and Sundance because he has balls of steel (except when it comes to swimming). Much like the two characters in Fight Club, they're the yin to the other's yang.

They work together perfectly as a team.

Men today lack such polarity with their comrades. The biggest reason for this is our sense of brotherhood, community, and rites of passage have been stolen from us.

Oftentimes men can accomplish much more together, than they can individually.

Having a brotherhood of men, can open your eyes to things you cannot see, for whatever reason. Maybe you are ''too close'' to something to see it for example.

You can't see the forest for the trees. You are Sundance without Butch's brains OR you're Butch's brains without Sundance's killer instinct.

A lethal ability to strike down your enemies.

Make no mistake in these crazy times we find ourselves in

Your enemies are always at the gates, threatening to take even more from you than they already have

They won't stop until they've taken everything from you. They won't be satisfied until you've been stripped of everything.

It's in times like these that men have to band together. Like Butch and Sundance did.

I saw the writing on the walls years ago, before lockdowns, before vaccines, before masks.

That's why I created the Spartan Tribe, so men could band together and fight back against our pursuers, just Butch and Sundance fight back against their pursuers in this film.

We hsave the same weakness Butch and Sundance lacked: strength in numbers.

Strength in numbers is how we'll win.

My Spartan Tribe, is one way you can start to cultivate them.
